About the Contributors

Heather

Heather is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Lehigh University. Her research focuses on the inter-generational perpetuation of race and class inequality in the contemporary United States. Her scholarship and teaching interests include: the sociology of wealth and poverty, the sociology of children and childhood, and dominant ideology. Her first book, The American Dream and the Power of Wealth, was published by Routledge in 2006. She is currently working on her next book – a study of how privileged families understand their own families’ social class status and pass along advantage to the next generation. She was born and raised in New Hampshire and now lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with her husband, Braydon; their twin sons, Kyle and Owen, age 6; and their daughter, Meera, age 2.

Braydon

Braydon is the CEO and co-founder of rVibe, the leading provider of live HD Internet video streaming and conferencing. With over 15 years in delivering technology solutions for Fortune 50 financial institutions and a Doctorate in Music Composition from Boston University, Braydon is a seasoned technologist with a seriously musical background. Over the course of his diverse career history, he has rolled out over $50 million in new technology, saved over $20 million in costs, conducted a symphony or two and written scores for a few movies. He was born in the South, but now lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his wife Heather and their twin sons, Kyle and Owen, age 6; and their daughter, Meera, age 2.

Shalinee (contributor to “The Swap”)

Shalinee is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Lehigh University. Her research interests are in communications theory, networks and signal processing, with emphasis on wireless systems and smart grids.  Her work has been published in leading IEEE journals and conferences and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, state agencies and several corporations. Shalinee was born in India and immigrated to the US when she was eight years old.  Her husband, Dave, and she have been married for 9 years.  They are enamored parents of two: Kavya who is 4 and Alex Om who is 2.
