Heather
Heather is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Lehigh University. Her research focuses on the inter-generational perpetuation of race and class inequality in the contemporary United States. Her scholarship and teaching interests include: the sociology of wealth and poverty, the sociology of children and childhood, and dominant ideology. Her first book, The American Dream and the Power of Wealth, was published by Routledge in 2006. She is currently working on her next book – a study of how privileged families understand their own families’ social class status and pass along advantage to the next generation. She was born and raised in New Hampshire and now lives on campus at Lehigh University in Bethlehem Pennsylvania with her husband, Braydon; their twin sons, Kyle and Owen, and their daughter, Meera.
