Frenchtown Playground

The bambinos have spent every Wednesday morning, all summer long, at Frenchtown Playground. I have taken them a couple of times, but most weeks they went with Margie while I was at work. This is a summer tradition for our Waldorf School: anyone who is in the mood shows up on Wednesday mornings for playtime with school friends. Some people go every week (like us!), some go just once or twice, some go every-other-week. You never quite know who will show up, but you”re pretty much guaranteed that there will be at least one friend from school there ready to play. Mostly moms (sometimes a dad) bring the kids, but there are some nannies too (phew! my kids aren’t the only ones!). There is a great playground at the Frenchtown Park, but the big appeal is the creek! It is a shallow, clear-flowing creek with lots of critters to be caught, rocks to be thrown, and dams to be built. It is clean, safe, shady, and really, really beautiful. On hot summer Wednesdays that creek is sometimes overflowing with kids from our school! Margie started a new tradition this year with our three–  after spending the morning at Frenchtown Park they’d then go across the street to the pizza shop for lunch. This was a weekly ritual that helped hold the summer together. It is also a ritual that has helped hold our summers together (K&O have been going on Wednesdays for the past three years). I asked Margie to bring a camera for their last “Frenchtown Playground Day” and these are some of her pics.

” rocks to be thrown, and damns to be built.” Wrong “damn” (supposed to be “dam”) but that’s kind of funny. I think it’s great that the kids get together like that and I’m sure you feel blessed that you have a nanny who will take them.

I saw this post on my phone, but had to come back to check out the pics from a larger screen :-)
This place definitely looks like the PERFECT childhood summer hangout! What lucky children those who get to enjoy that little piece of heaven on Earth!
