“I have a dream that one day… the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood.” –Martin Luther King, Jr.
On NPR radio at noon they had the entire speach MLK gave the night before his assassination-about an hour long and the boys and I listened and he was an amazing speaker. They played leapster no the floor after a while and then would put it down and come onto my lap. I learned so much about MLK just hearing him "live". It is always hard to decide at what age to gently open up the history of racism to them-but it is our job as white parents to teach our biracial children about MLK and what a great man he was. If that isn't the most heartwarming message, I don't know what is!
