Did you research each place before you bid on it for your recent vacation? I see many different places that appear to be lovely in their descriptions but it seems risky without a lot of background research to bid on them. Please share how you used the site–the process you used–as I would like to do that.

Hello! Yes, we (well, actually, mainly I) do tons and tons and tons of research on nearly every trip we ever take. My main source of information is TripAdvisor.com I will scour those reviews, often emailing the reviewers with further questions, look closely at the photos that people post, look closely at the rankings, etc., etc., etc. We also look closely at the websites of the destinations, often call them and inquire over the phone with specific questions, etc. We also use google for searches to try to find any other scoop (good and bad) that we possibly can. Braydon likes to use GoogleMaps to “see” the places online. We have never booked a vacation simply from a description online… we ALWAYS thoroughly research places before we take the leap to go to them. Vacations are precious to us, and we’re prioritizing our money very carefully in order to incorporate travel into our life, so we are *very* careful about where we go. Hope this helps. ~Heather
