These two big boys are about to turn 8 years old. They challenge me daily with their antics, make my blood pressure sky-rocket with their dare-devilish pranks, and keep me up at night worrying about their futures. They also make my heart melt, give me enormous hope for this world, and fill me with a level of pride I could not possibly have previously known. I could not be more in love with them. They are my dream come true. They are on the verge of turning 8. We are getting ready for a huge birthday bash. And we are thinking a lot about what might have been happening eight years ago at this time in Cite Soleil, Port au Prince, Haiti.
They are getting so big and handsome! They have changed so much since I started reading your blog in 2007.

I was just thinking that K&O’s birthday is around the corner and eagerly anticipating reading about their birthday celebrations! What a great photo of your handsome boys! Although I only know them through how you write about them on this blog I think your boys are really remarkable and maturing into really thoughtful, fun-loving, generous, super-talented individuals – and I can see yours and Braydon’s love for them pouring out into this Blog Scrapbook – as I’ve said before, what a gift you are giving them to record it so lovingly but keepin’ it real too ;). Thinking of your heart Heather and your boys’ especially in light of your closing sentiment – can’t really express it clearly in writing – but just know I get it.

Colin is so excited for K & O to be turning eight because it means he will be eight 30 days after. And like you, Heather, my blood pressure is off the charts with the seven-year old antics. Even moreoso because his dad and I have already reared two kids who are in their early thirties. Happy birthday, Kyle and Owen. And cheers to you, Braden, and Miss Meera (and the cats…and the big transition to campus housing).
