Early Risers

With very rare exceptions, Meera is always the first one up in our house. She usually wakes up sometime around 6-7, but for the past few days she’s been up, wide-eyed and ready to start her day, around 5:20-5:30 a.m. Braydon is away on a work trip this week, so I’m holding down the fort myself. This here is really a 2-person operation, so doing it solo is tough. I was still exhausted from the night before when Meera cheerily and enthusiastically woke me up at 5:23 a.m. this morning. She did her normal morning routine– I got her warm milk, which she slurps down in record speed, and she then played very quietly by herself and let the rest of us continue to doze a bit. Bunny is her constant steady companion. He (Meera has always been quite insistent that Bunny is a boy) is with her always, everywhere she goes. The early morning is no exception — even when the whole house is quiet, and everyone else is still in dreamland, Meera always has Bunny to keep her company as the sun is rising. This morning, once we hit a more reasonable hour, Meera insisted that she wanted to take Bunny on a walk outside. So I sipped my coffee in the driveway while Meera and Bunny — our two Early Risers — played in the yard.

So sweet! I used to play with my large Bunny (called Lovey) — she was my constant companion – she travelled overseas with me! I remember one day being in despair because she was missing – turns out Mum had taken her on an outing to try on baby shoes (a christmas present)!!

It might be the fact that the sun is up so early (I’ve also been waking up at 5). Is there any way you could darken Meera’s room?

You and Braydon are never able to get enough sleep as it is and with him away it has to be even harder.
