I know we should not feed the birds. And we don’t do it much. But after we ate our sandwiches on the beach today, Meera really, really, really wanted to give the seagulls the bread crust that she didn’t want to eat. I gave in and said o.k. She broke off teeny tiny pieces, one at a time, to make it last. And it was a really delightful moment for all involved.
I’ve enjoyed your photo essay of your summer retreat with your children. I showed it to my mom (my dad is from Charleston, SC) and one thing we both said was, “Do those kids know how lucky they are?” To play all day on the beach, to visit historical SC areas, to spend TIME with family……what a beautiful gift you are giving them. They may not remember the specifics of the vacation, but they will remember the essence of it.
Thank you so much!! We HOPE that someday our kids will understand and truly appreciate all this. For now, it is simply the best summer imaginable.
