Thank you very much for this. This is exactly what I was looking for, books that feature black boys to read aloud with my son! I commend you for all your efforts to make this available to parents like me.

Thanks so much for posting these books. I’ve ordered just about everyone because I’m a second grade teacher and I teach an all boys class. Will definitely let you know how my little gentlemen like these books.

I found one Ziggy and the Black Dinosaurs book at a used book store. My son LOVED it! How interesting to see the change that was made. I was able to find the older version used on Barnes and Noble and ordered a bunch more for Christmas! Thanks for your list. I can’t wait to get the other books!

I want to thank you so much for publishing this list. I feel the exact same way as you do about books for my son. We too have all of the popular books out for 4th graders , but trying to find books with characters that look like my son is hard. This awesome!!!

Thanks so much for this list. I have been on the hunt for books with young African-American boy characters for my nephew. If you haven’t come across the Alec London series, give it a try.
On my hunt I found the Alec London series for 8-12 year old boys by Stephanie Perry Moore and her husband Derrick Moore.

I have boys that are 13years old. the books you listed would appear to be for a younger age group. any recommendations for an older group?
